Location: Salt Lake City, Utah
The thatched-roof, open-air bowery where early members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints met soon after their arrival in Salt Lake Valley would be swallowed up today in the 21,000-seat auditorium of the new Conference Center — believed to be the largest religious and theater auditorium in the world.
“This is truly a magnificent building,” said Church President Gordon B. Hinckley in an April 2000 general conference of the Church, when the 1.2-million-square-foot Conference Center was used for the first time.
Exceeding the capacity of Madison Square Garden in New York City, the Conference Center auditorium is large enough to house a Boeing 747 jet with room to spare.
The tower stands just under 100' tall from it's base and finished with beautiful granite stone exterior.
